Court teams split openers

The four Muskie court teams kicked off their NorWOSSA seasons yesterday in Dryden, where both boys’ basketball teams came away victorious.
The seniors opened defence of their league crown with a hard-fought 46-40 victory over the Eagles, with Will Anderson’s 15 points leading the way.
Meanwhile, the junior boys rallied from a 20-11 halftime deficit to earn a 41-39 win in overtime.
Darren Lundgren’s team-high 15 points was a key contributor to the comeback.
But it was a different story for the Muskie girls’ volleyball squads, who opened their NorWOSSA seasons on a losing note against the always stout Eagles.
The juniors lost a close five-set encounter (19-25, 25-12, 21-25, 25-19, and 11-15) while the senior were swept in straight sets (details on that match were not available as of press time).
All four teams were back in action this afternoon at Fort High against the Kenora Broncos.
