Cougars finish fourth at Minnesota tourney

Causeway Cougars finished in fourth place at an Atom ‘A’ tournament in Grand Rapids, Mn. last weekend, dropping a 4-1 decision to Hermantown in the third-place game Sunday.
The Cougars dominated play, especially in the early going, and outshot Hermantown 28-9 but still came out on the short end on the scoreboard.
John Paul Galbraith netted Causeway’s lone goal.
The Cougars advanced to the third-place game with a narrow 3-2 win over Play it Again (Grand Rapids). Scott Basaraba, Kyle Sigurdson, and Joel Wreggitt all tallied in the win.
They opened the tournament with a 4-1 loss to Grantsburg, Wis. despite outshooting their opponents by a 22-10 total. Causeway’s lone goal was scored by Bryan Gustafson, assisted by Joey Lee and Derek McLeod.
Then the Cougars got into the win column with a 7-5 victory over Arrow Sport (Grand Rapids). Kyle Sigurdson scored four goals in that game while Larry Pham added a pair.
Joel Wreggitt also scored in the win.
