It’s time for the public to officially get a look at Rainy River District’s newest recreational facility.
The Couchiching First Nation Arena, nicknamed “The Duke,” will have its grand opening tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.
There will be a ribbon-cutting, a ceremonial puck drop, and the dedication of the arena’s name in memory of former Couchiching First Nation Chief Raymond “Dukesie” Bruyere.
That will be followed by a minor hockey game at 10:30 a.m. involving players aged five-six, with Couchiching taking on their counterparts from Fort Frances.
From 11 a.m.-12 p.m., a free lunch featuring barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers will be served from 11 a.m.-noon.
The afternoon will be highlighted by a free public skate.
