Three Sunset Country squashers made it into a consolation final at the Winnipeg Winter Club last weekend—and two prevailed.
Anniss Seid was victorious as the consolation champ in the men’s ‘B’ division after narrowly edging Blair Riordan (Winnipeg) by a 12-10 score in the final game of their best-of-five showdown.
Bob Tkachuk, meanwhile, claimed the men’s ‘C’ consolation event with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Bruce Christie (Winnipeg).
Jason Kabel fought to the finish but ended up losing the men’s ‘A’ consolation final in five games to Nikki Todd (Winnipeg).
And in the girls’ U15 division, Anika Alexander ended with a 2-2 record.
Next up for the Sunset Country Squash Club is the Wesley Derksen Open on Feb. 12-14 at the Memorial Sports Centre.
The deadline to register is Feb. 6.
