The Muskie boys’ hockey team made hay in the Wheat City over the weekend, capturing the consolation final of a tournament in Brandon, Man.
Fort High wrapped up the title by bouncing Neepawa 5-1 yesterday.
Nick Kaun, Nik Jourdain, Chris Bobczynski, Brett McMahon, and game MVP Tyler Mosbeck all scored to secure the win.
Fort High earlier beat Dauphin 7-4 to advance to the consolation final.
Tarryn Romyn scored twice in that one, with Brett McMahon, Brady McMahon, Jourdain, Jeff Davis, and Jeff Gustafson adding singles.
Braedon Keast was player of the game.
In the opening round of the ‘A’-side draw, Fort High lost a 7-6 barnburner to Winnipeg powerhouse Oak Park.
The goal scorers were not available.
After opening with an 8-2 romp over Morden on Thursday night, the Muskies completed round-robin play Friday by dismantling Sturgeon Heights 6-1.
Gustafson (game MVP) and Robbie Rea each scored twice while Jourdain and Tyson McLean had one apiece.
The good vibrations from the weekend tournament come right in time for the black-and-gold’s NorWOSSA home-opener tomorrow (Dec. 7) when they host Dryden at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The Muskies then will host Kenora this Friday night (Dec. 10).
