The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association met last night with the main topic being a possible jamboree here Jan. 5 to coincide with CBC’s telecast of “Hockey Day in Canada.”
No details were confirmed. Instead, a sub-committee was formed to handle the event, said FFMHA president Lynn Kellar.
“What we needed to do is form a committee to meet next week to kind of spearhead this,” Kellar said, adding it would consist of four or five board members.
Kellar said the format of the jamboree should be ironed out by the end of November. It would be an attempt to get all of the age divisions the chance to see some ice time that day.
Back on Oct. 23, the FFMHA agreed to be a “live remote” site for the annual show at the request of CBC. “Hockey Day in Canada” examines the cultural impact of hockey.
In between segments and features, the telecast will jump from several small towns across the country, including Fort Frances, with live footage of minor hockey games in progress.
