Club hikes through forest

The Fort Frances Sportsmen’s “Get Outdoors” Club hiked through the boreal forest near Wasaw Lake last weekend.
With the temperature at minus-21 C, they celebrated the first real wintry weather of the year.
As they hiked, they practised their compass skills as they found their way to a frozen swamp about a kilometre from the road.
It appears it’s been a good year for some wildlife as hare tracks were everywhere, vole tunnels were plentiful, and several ruffed grouse were seen.
A good time was had by all.
