CJ, Al’s capture crowns

Another Borderland Soccer League season officially is in the books.
CJ Contracting and Al’s Racquet Stringing nabbed the men’s and women’s division titles, respectively, during the league finals Tuesday evening at the St. Francis Sports Fields.
Heading into the second-and-deciding game of the men’s final tied 0-0 on aggregate score, first-place CJ got a goal early in the first half from Connor Bujold en route to a 1-0 win over second-place Manitou Forest Products.
Keeper Cole Kowalski did the rest by shutting the door on Manitou’s scorers.
Manitou did press later in the half in an attempt to even the score, and also had its chances in the second half, but just couldn’t find a way to get one past Kowalski.
Jacob Albright suffered the hard-luck loss for Manitou.
Second-place Al’s, meanwhile, netted a pair of second-half goals to eke out a 3-2 victory over first-place La Place Rendez-Vous to claim the women’s crown.
Sara Kellar, Natalie Desjardins, and Sara Coish all scored for Al’s while Hailey Beaudry earned the win in goal.
Kaylyn Levesque and Gwen MacDonald tallied for the Vous.
Alyssa Faragher and Laureen Peters shared keeper duties.
