Church bonspiel looking for teams

Press Release

In the continuous effort to appeal to more curlers, including students, the annual Church Bonspiel is being held on a Saturday again this year.
It is set for March 7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fort Frances Curling Club.
This is a fun event that attracts curling participants from area churches on both sides of the border.
We look forward to welcoming you again. And if this is something new for your church, welcome aboard!
We are hoping for a full event of 12 teams.
All efforts are made to have 12 different teams representing 12 different congregations, however, we welcome churches to enter as many teams as they wish and we will try to accommodate everyone we can.
Teams can be any four people of any age.
In an attempt to cover all costs, registration is set this year at $100 per team of four, which includes the cost of curling (three six-end games) and lunch.
As in the past, regular curling rules apply and the scoring is patterned to work with this type of bonspiel format.
At the end of the day, the first-place team is deemed the champion while the second-place team is responsible for looking after next year’s competition.
However, do not let this “2nd place” responsibility stop you from entering a team. We have a few people in place that always are willing to help out in this area.
After 48 years, we feel it is really important to keep this friendly winter activity going so call in with your registration today. It’s a great way to share some “fun” time with other churches.
The top two teams receive awards courtesy of Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances (the large annual awards engraving updates are donated by Fort Frances General Supply).
It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring this friendly and fun-filled activity to the attention of your congregation.
A quick reply would help us greatly in planning the event.
A further invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to come out for the day to cheer on their team.
Admission is free, and an elevator is available for easy access to the upper level.
We look forward to seeing you there!
The public restaurant will be open for all those is attendance.
