Catholique-Bruyere wins silver at Winter Games

Judoka Jared Catholique-Bruyere was the only one of the local contingent to come home with a medal at the Ontario Winter Games in Guelph over the weekend.
The 14-year old won the silver medal in the 82+ kg juvenile men’s division yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Northwestern eight-player squash team, including five local players–Steve Boileau (under-13), Steve Krag and Megan Canfield (under-17), and Richard Allan and Sarah Noonan (under -19)–settled for a consolation final win over Huronia (they were 4-4 in head-to-head games, but won the title based on a 14-12 advantage in individual games won).
They had finished 2-2 in round-robin play for third-place in their pool out of the medal round.
In five-pin bowling, Jen AmOrde’s senior girls’ team finished in sixth place.
And the Northwestern Ontario ringette squad with, Jen Carmody and Megan Bob, failed to register a win to finish 0-5, in last-place.
