The accolades keep on coming for Molly Carlson.
The Fort Frances native was among 15 Florida State Seminoles’ swimmers and divers named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams last Wednesday.
The CSCAA recognized a record-breaking 1,069 student-athletes across all NCAA divisions, NJCAA, and NAIA for its 2017-18 Scholar All-America team.
The award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective national championship meet.
Six FSU student-athletes earned the nod to the first-team, which included senior Tayla Lovemore, sophomores Carlson and Ayla Bonniwell, along with freshman Emma Terebo.
Freshman Joshua Davidson and sophomore Nate Samson earned a spot on the men’s side.
Nine FSU student-athletes were among the 1,137 tabbed as honorable mention, meeting the GPA requirement of 3.50 while achieving an NCAA ‘B’ standard or competing at an NCAA qualifier.
“These student-athletes have continued to strive for excellence both in the pool and in the classroom,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said in a press release.
“I am proud of the work they put in while representing FSU in such a prestigious manner,” he added.
“I am especially happy for our seniors [who] finished their careers on a high note.”
Last week, both teams were recognized as CSCAA Scholar All-Americans as the women turned in an GPA of 3.39 and also earned a spot on the 2017 fall semester list.
The men, meanwhile, earned their first honour of the season behind a 3.05 GPA in the spring.
