’Canes keep winning

The Sabaskong Cougars tried to survive doing the “Walk of Life” but the Fort Frances Herricanes’ run-scoring juggernaut killed that idea.
The Herricanes (11-1-1) rolled to a 33-17 victory over the winless Cougars (0-11) in Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League action here last night.
Charity McMahon pitched well enough to win for the second time in three nights, although the Cougars were the recipient of a number of walks that provided most of the foundation for their offence.
But Fort Frances, which has scored 80 runs in its past three games, would not be denied.
Caylee Woolsey’s third homer of the season was the most resounding blow struck among many delivered by the Herricanes.
There was no report as of press time on last night’s other games, including the Fort Frances Juniors at the Redgut Bay Babes and the Couchiching Lady Raiders hosting Sabaskong Tebinaak.
The defending champion Babes will entertain the Herricanes when league action resumes Monday in a rematch of last year’s league final.
Fort Frances won the previous meeting between the two teams earlier this season.
Also on Monday, the Juniors are at home to Northwest Bay while the Lady Raiders host the Manitou Blaze.
All games start at 7 p.m.
