Canadians win medals

Local teams made their presence felt at hockey tournaments in Dryden this past weekend.
The Fort Frances PeeWee ‘AA’ Canadians rebounded from a rough start Friday, when they lost both of their opening round-robin games, to go all the way to the final, where they defeated the host Dryden Paper Kings 4-2.
Noah Loveday scored a pair of goals in the title game, with Eric Pitkanen and Brett Hahkala adding singles.
A strong performance by Parker Orchard between the pipes also helped the Canadians capture the title.
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances Bantam ‘AA’ Canadians also reached the final Sunday in their division, but ended up being stymied 7-2 by the Paper Kings.
But the local squad will have a chance for revenge here this weekend when they host a tournament the Paper Kings will attend.
