There was no room for error and the Carleton Place Canadians suffered for it.
The Canadians, captained by Fort Frances native Jordan Larson, had a mighty task in front of them yesterday if they hoped to make it to the playoff round at the RBC Cup in Lloydminster.
Instead, Carleton Place is heading home following a 5-4 loss to the AJHL champion Brooks Bandits, which left them in last place at the five-team tournament with an 0-3-0-1 record during round-robin play.
It was a bitter end to the 21-year-old Larson’s junior career—and for a Canadians’ team that made it to the RBC Cup final the previous two seasons only to lose.
Second-place Brooks (3-1) will play the third-place West Kelowna Warriors from the BCHL (2-1-1-0) in one semi-final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the first-place Trenton Golden Hawks from the OJHL (3-0-0-1) will square off against the host Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL (0-3-1-0), whose lone win was an overtime victory against Carleton Place.
