Canadians lose heartbreaker

Don’t mention the name Troy Swail around any member of the Fort Frances Canadians ‘AA’ Midget hockey team this week.
Swail scored the game-winning goal with less than half-a-second on the clock to propel the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (Kenora) to a 4-3 win over the Canadians on Saunday afternoon in Emo.
The last-second goal was especially disheartening after the Canadians had battled back with three third-period goals to tie the game off the stick of Tyson McLean, Brandon Sinclair, and Ryan Lundy.
Jared Snyder had two goals for the Saints while Steve Halverson netted the game’s first goal midway through the second period.
The Canadians now head to Dryden for a match-up with the Renegades on Saturday at 6 p.m.
