The Fort Frances Canadians Midget ‘AA’ hockey team earned a narrow 4-3 victory over host Ely on Saturday afternoon.
Ely got on the board first, but Brian Glavish tied the score with Tyler Harris drawing the assist.
Kirk Petrin (Scott Gurski) made it 2-1 in the second, but Ely battled back to square things at 2-2.
The Canadians then took the lead for good on goals by Boyd Badiuk (Curtis Logue) and Gurski (unassisted) before the end of the period.
Ely got one it the third, but it was too little, too late as the Canadians hung on for the win.
The Canadians were coming off a 2-2 tie against the International Falls Broncos’ junior varsity team across the river last Thursday night.
George Ossachuk (Logue) got the Canadians’ first goal, then Brandon Roden (Travis Wolframe/Justin Pryde) notched the game-tying tally.
