Canada West on to semis

Matthew Krahn seems to have a firm grip on the role of starting goalie for Canada West at the World Jr. ‘A’ Challenge in Penticton, B.C.
Krahn made 31 saves as Canada West edged Sweden 3-2 to advance against the U.S. in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Nolan Kaiser notched the game-winner on the power play at 5:18 of the third.
The home squad pulled out the victory despite recording just 22 shots.
Krahn’s strong play has kept Fort Frances Lakers’ goalie and Emo native Jameson Shortreed on the bench so far.
Shortreed saw action in Canada West’s first exhibition game last Friday, but has not played since.
Canada East will face Switzerland in the other semi-final tomorrow, with the final slated for Sunday.
