The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced earlier this week that Fort Frances Jr. Sabres’ forward Mitch Cain will join Devlin native Jordan Davis, as well as Davis’ teammate, Michael MacDonald, of the Fort William North Stars, on the Team West roster for the CJHL’s Top Prospects game coming up Dec. 17 in Summerside, P.E.I.
Team West will be comprised of five players from the AJHL and BCHL, four players from the MJHL, and three players from the SJHL, along with the three SIJHL reps.
The 17-year-old Cain, who earned SIJHL rookie-of-the-year honours last season, is tied for eighth in league scoring with nine goals and 15 assists in 19 games.
Davis, 18, who spent last season with the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack, currently is tied for the North Stars’ scoring lead with 11 goals and 15 assists in 17 games.
MacDonald, meanwhile, recently returned to the North Stars after representing the SIJHL at the World Jr. ‘A’ Challenge in Camrose, Alta., where he helped Team Canada West capture the silver medal.
The 17-year-old has 21 points in 15 games with the North Stars.
