Josh Sigurdson scored the game-winner just 30 seconds into overtime to lift the MEC Bulldogs to a 1-0 win over Dryden Esso in the ‘B’ final of an Atom ‘A’ tournament up there last weekend.
Andrew Lundy drew the assist.
MEC reached the final with a 4-3 shootout win over the Neebing Jets. Lundy led the way with two goals and an assist while Michael Shoemaker and Kurtis Carlson also scored.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament by playing to a 4-4 tie with Dryden Avenor. Sigurdson scored twice in that one while Pierre Jourdain and Mathew Feaver added singles.
The Bulldogs later dumped the Kenora Predators 5-1 on the strength of a hat trick by Sigurdson and singles by Lundy and Feaver, then trounced the Sioux Lookout Explorers 11-0.
Lundy, Sigurdson and Paul Dobransky each scored a pair in that game while Derek Thompson, Cole Derkson, Craig Johnson, Feaver, and Jourdain netted singles.
