Braves trounce Cubs

Staff

It took a pair of tries to get the game in, but once it began, it was over in a hurry.
The host Big Grassy Braves, who finished the RRDFL regular season in fourth place, made quick work of the sixth-place Sabaskong Cubs last night, drilling their way to a 21-4 win to advance to a semi-final showdown with Barwick.
Jesse Tom paced the Braves’ offence with a home run while Travis Tom earned the win.
Joe Jack was tagged with the loss for Sabaskong, who were knocked from further contention.
The Braves will meet Barwick on Tuesday (Aug. 24), with that victor squaring off against Sight & Sound for the league crown.
The Wolves will have their first crack at the title next Thursday (Aug. 26).
But since the playoffs feature a double-knockout format, they’ll have a second chance Aug. 31 should they lose that first game.
