BP Royals sweep home-and-home with Dryden

Press Release

The local Boston Pizza Royals PeeWee ‘AA’ team went into action Saturday (Oct. 2) against their Dryden Paper Kings counterparts.
The Royals ended up winning the game 5-4.
Action was at a high pace and the local kids played with great intensity.
Jordan Taggart, Graeme Kitt, Cole Tymkin, and Kyle Knapp all scored, with Austin Angus netting the game-winner.
Goaltending duties were split between Parker Orchard and Dylan Ossachuck.
For the second game of the home-and-home series, played here on Sunday, the Royals were out-hit by the Paper Kings in the opening part of the game, but didn’t let the physical play faze them as they won 4-3.
The Royals managed to use their speed to outwork the visitors from Dryden.
The home team also seemed to feed off the excitement of the roughly 75 fans as part of the hometown crowd.
The Royals eventually began scoring with ease as Noah Loveday led the way with a pair.
Tyler VanUden and Kitt added the other goals.
Cam Turriff helped the cause with a pair of assists, with Tymkin and Taggart collecting one assist apiece.
Ossachuck and Orchard once again split time between the pipes.
“Although Dryden may have a bigger team that us, our kids proved that through hard work, determination, and sticking to a game plan, we can be successful,” said Royals’ head coach Ed Vold.
“It’s the little, simple things that I think we did right, and getting key saves by both goalies helped us have a winning weekend,” he added.
The team next will face the Kenora Thistles in another exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Admission is free and there will be a 50/50 draw.
