Both Muskie boys’ basketball teams are a win away from NorWOSSA gold.
The junior squad finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 mark after routing the host Kenora Broncos 73-32 yesterday.
Meanwhile, the seniors (7-1) avenged their only loss of the regular season, edging the Broncos 49-46 yesterday.
Kenora had downed Fort High by a 49-41 tally back on Feb. 4.
By finishing first in the regular season, both teams earned byes to their respective league finals next Friday (Feb. 19) in Dryden.
They’ll await the winners of the semi-final showdowns between the Eagles and Broncos.
Both Muskie girls’ volleyball teams left Kenora smiling, as well.
The senior girls rallied from a first set loss to buck the Broncos 3-1 in their best-of-five match.
The juniors were in a much closer battle yesterday, losing two of the first three sets before rebounding to take the last two for the narrow 3-2 victory.
Both Muskie squads finished in second place with identical 3-5 records and now will take on Kenora in their respective semi-finals next Friday in Dryden.
The host Eagles earned the bye in both divisions.
