The Borderland Judo Club travelled to Thunder Bay last weekend to compete in the Mountainside Judo Club Mini Shiai. This was the first time some of the Borderland Judo members had the opportunity to compete.

The Mountainside Judo Mini Shiai is a smaller tournament designed to get the fighters lots of matches. Team members had a “Fight the Line” format where members get a minimum of three fights and if they kept winning, they kept fighting. The more wins team members had, the better their standings at the end of the event.

The Borderland Judo Club took the top four spots in the U14 division and the top three in the U16. Lily Mowe and Pobp Murrell had to share the same trophy for the most wins in the tournament, Mowe had 10 wins and Murrell had nine but because Murrell was undefeated in U12 and U14, they called it a tie.
