Bonot off to rocky start at provincials

Bryan Bonot (Stratton) has limped out to an 0-3 start at the Northern Ontario senior men’s curling playdowns in North Bay.
Bill McKelvey (Kirkland Lake) jumped out to a 6-1 lead against Bonot after four ends and then held on for a 9-7 win in this morning’s draw.
Bonot, whose rink includes third Terry Lee, second Ron Martinuk, and lead Ted Stewart, had opened play yesterday with a 7-6 loss to Gary Ball (Thunder Bay) and then a 7-2 defeat in six ends to Bill Johnston (Sault Ste. Marie).
Bonot met Chucker Ross (Sudbury) this afternoon, then will wrap up round-robin play tomorrow morning versus Peter Minogue (North Bay).
Heading into the fourth draw this afternoon, there was a four-way tie for first at 2-1 between Ball, Ross, Johnston, and Minogue.
Only the top team will advance to the nationals next month.
Bonot and Ball qualified for the provincials after their one-two showing at the district playdowns in Nipigon last month.
