Boivin still in critical condition

Local snowmobile racer Curtis Boivin remained in critical condition in hospital as of press time this morning following a horrific accident Sunday during the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships’ season-opening weekend at Beausejour, Man.
The 19-year-old currently is in a medically-induced coma as doctors work to determine the full extent of head injuries he sustained during the main event of the Pro Champ 440 division.
Boivin collided with another sled on the backstretch early in the race and crashed hard into the protective hay bales on the outside of the track.
He reportedly was unconscious when medical staff reached him, and later was airlifted via helicopter to a hospital in Winnipeg.
The CPTC has set up a fund to help the Boivin family with medical costs.
Those who are able are asked to send cheques, payable to CPTC, to P.O. Box 22, Beausejour, Man., R0E 0C0.
