Boat package being raffled off

Those interested in competing in the first-annual Emo Walleye Classic had better get their entry forms in soon—there’s just 13 spots still open in the 50-boat field.
The live-release derby will kick off May 30 with a boat parade. Competition then will be held Friday and Saturday on the Rainy River.
In related news, a 16-foot boat and motor package, courtesy of Tompkins Hardware in Emo and valued at $15,000, will be up for raffle as a major fundraiser for the derby.
Colleen Vennechenko, president of the Emo Chamber of Commerce and a member of the tournament committee, said they meet weekly to plan.
“Things are going well, we’ve got a good group,” she said, though adding they can always use more volunteers.
Lionel Robert, owner of Lion Rob tournament services and longtime emcee of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship and the Rainy River walleye derby, will host the Emo one.
