The local Bantam ‘AA’ B•Macs fell 7-4 to the Morden Reds on Sunday in the consolation final of a tournament in Brandon.
The B•Macs had trailed 4-0 after the first period but they fought back to pull within 4-2. But the Reds scored one more in the second to make it 5-2, then the teams traded goals in the third.
Kevin Webb scored twice in the loss while Thomas Rose and Cole Hayward netted singles.
The B•Macs reached the consolation final after earlier trouncing the Carstairs Bruins (Alta.) 7-2, paced by a three-goal, two-assist effort from Webb.
Rose, Tucker, Hayward, and Joel Burghardt also scored for the B•Macs. At the other end of the ice, Dustin Tkachyk was solid in goal to earn the win.
The B•Macs opened the tournament last Thursday night with a 9-3 loss to Morden, giving up seven power-play goals.
Ira Ottertail, Webb, and Tucker all scored for the B•Macs.
The B•Macs continued their penalty woes in their next game Friday against the Saskatoon Knights, allowing six power-play goals in a wide-open 10-7 loss.
Webb had another strong offensive game, scoring four goals, while Lorne Koski, Hayward, and Kris Esselink netted singles.
The B•Macs then went up against a tough Brandon Wheat Kings squad that eked out a close 4-3 win, netting the deciding goal with just 38 seconds to play.
Rose scored a pair in the losing cause while Esselink also tallied. Geoff Gerley played well in goal for the B•Macs in that one.
