Blue Knights edge visiting Wolves

A pattern is starting to make itself clear for the Sight & Sound Wolves.
The Fort Frances-based Rainy River District Fastball League squad seems to be on the “win one, lose one” track after the Wolves (2-2) fell 5-4 to the host Barwick Blue Knights (5-1) on Tuesday night.
Joel Ashworth went deep for Sight & Sound but Barwick’s J.J. Landry still earned the win.
Bob Andy was saddled with the loss.
In other action Tuesday night, the Big Grassy Lightning (3-2) drilled Manitou 18-5 on the strength of two dingers by Chris Jack and one from winning pitcher Jeff Morrison.
Aaron Pitchenese took the loss for the hosts, who slipped to 2-3 after starting the season 2-0.
Elsewhere, the Big Grassy Braves topped Stratton 9-8.
Travis Tom got the win for the Braves (3-2) while Rob McGinnis was tagged with the loss for Stratton (2-3).
Meanwhile, Sabaskong’s Sheldon Kelly was victorious in a pitcher’s duel with Rainy River’s Murray Armstrong as the Cubs won 1-0 in extra innings.
The Cubs improved to 4-1 while the Royals dropped their second-straight 1-0 setback to fall to 2-2 on the season.
Rounding out Tuesday’s action, Northwest Bay dumped Big Island 11-2.
Wayne Smith was the winning pitcher for Northwest Bay (2-3) while Rueben Gibbins was the loser for winless Big Island (0-6).
Five more games are scheduled for tonight as Sight & Sound hosts Stratton, the Big Grassy Lightning entertain Big Island, Barwick visits Rainy River, the Big Grassy Braves travel to Northwest Bay, and Sabaskong heads to Manitou.
