The Boston Pizza Ball Blasters have unveiled a third offensive weapon the past two weeks to join a cast that already includes two of the Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League’s top guns.
Rebecca Selman netted a pair of goals to pace the first-place Ball Blasters (4-1) to a 4-1 victory over the third-place Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes (1-3-1) last night.
Selman had a hat trick in Boston Pizza’s 8-6 triumph over the second-place Main Street Mayhem (3-1-1) back on Feb. 11.
Maggie Jean and Sydney Radigan scored the other goals last night.
Sara Roach had the lone goal for the Rockettes.
The Mayhem, meanwhile, stayed on the heels of the league leaders with a 7-2 win last night over the last-place Borderland U15 Lightning (1-4).
Jaymee Fiset led the way with three goals while Katie Stearns, Andrea Coyle, Shannon King, and Nicole Renberg added one each.
Jamie Spencer and Ingrid Ellis replied for the Lightning in a game that saw the recently-added five-goal mercy rule put into effect for the first time.
Action resumes next Wednesday at Fort High when the Ball Blasters and Lightning square off at 7 p.m.
The Mayhem and Rockettes then will clash at 8:15 p.m.
