Battle for league lead

First place is up for grabs in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League with the playoffs on the horizon.
Alliance used a five-point night last week to move into a tie for top spot with Scared Hitless at 71.
If that wasn’t crowded enough, Gillons’ Cougars are just one point behind in third with 70 after matching Scared Hitless’ four-point outing last Thursday.
Notorious D.I.G. held onto fourth spot with 64 points—two up on fifth-place Kiss My Pass.
Both teams earned three points last week.
Defending champ Dig This sits sixth at 52 after a three-point effort—moving ahead of former league leader By The Balls (51), which hasn’t recorded a point since Jan. 16 to plummet to seventh place.
Another close battle sees Bump It Up in eighth with 46 points, one ahead of Ball Busters in ninth.
Ball Busters had the best showing of the night last week with the maximum six points while Bump It Up earned five.
I’d Hit That was skunked to remain in 10th at 22 points.
SMASH, meanwhile, stayed in 11th at 16—having not earned a point since Nov. 28.
Kiss My Ace also was blanked last week to stay in the basement with nine points.
The regular season concludes tonight with make-up games necessitated by poor weather earlier in the season.
Action gets underway at 7 p.m. at Fort High and St. Michael’s.
The playoffs then will get rolling after March Break (on March 20).
The league’s annual tournament will take place April 12-13 at Fort High.
