Joe Basaraba’s continuing hockey travels will now take him to the Sunshine State.
The Fort Frances native signed on Tuesday with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears for the upcoming season.
Basaraba, 23, split last season between the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones and the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage.
The forward had 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 39 games with the Cyclones, but had just one assist in 22 games with the Rampage.
Basaraba was a third-round draft pick (69th overall) of the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and helped the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs win the 2011 U.S. college hockey championship.
The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
