When the 2013-14 season begins for the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, Fort Frances native Joe Basaraba will have something new added to his uniform.
The 21-year-old right-winger, a third-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2010 and entering his senior season with the Bulldogs, yesterday was named one of the team’s two co-captains for the upcoming campaign.
Junior right-winger Adam Krause also will wear the ‘C’ this fall.
They are taking over the reins from graduating Cody Danberg.
Basaraba, who had 10 goals and seven assists in 37 games last season, will be one of four seniors on the Bulldogs’ roster next season as the team moves into the newly-formed NCHC conference.
UMD will begin its season Oct. 7 with an exhibition game against visiting Lakehead University.
They’ll start their regular-season campaign Oct. 11 when they host the Michigan Tech Huskies.
