The Barwick Blue Knights pulled to within a half a game of the front-running Emo Bulldogs with a pair of wins in Rainy River District Fastball League action last week.
Barwick routed Big Island 19-11 in a wild one a week ago Tuesday, with Kent Ogden (two), Greg Wilson, Tom Woolsey, and Trevor Oltsher all going deep in the win.
Randy Morrison (two) and Carl Big George Jr. homered for Big Island.
Wilson (2-1) picked up the win on the mound while Big George Jr. (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
The Knights then nipped the Pinewood Bears 5-4, erasing a 3-0 deficit after five innings.
Pinewood had jumped out to a lead on home runs by John Desaulnier (two) and Kyle Langlais. But host Barwick erupted for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to steal the win.
It was another one of our exciting comebacks, noted Ogden.
Tom Woolsey (1-0) picked up the win on the mound while Desaulnier (2-2) took the loss.
Barwick now sports a 4-1 record while Pinewood dropped to 2-3.
Other games last week saw Emo earn their fifth-straight win to start the season with a 5-4 victory at Big Grassy, who dropped to 1-5. Sean Taggart hit his fourth home run of the season for Emo while Leland Indian hammered his league-leading fifth dinger.
Sheldon Kelly (2-0) earned the victory while Bob Andy (0-2) took the loss.
Meanwhile, Pinewood edged Sight & Sound 5-4, paced by a home run by Desaulniers, while Stratton routed Big Grassy 12-3. Guy Arpin hit his fourth homer of the season in the win.
