For four Fort Frances players, today’s round-robin clash with the Soo Greyhounds at the provincial Bantam ‘AAA’ championships in Thunder Bay will mark their last chance to come home with a win.
The regional all-star squad, which includes goalie Brandon Bodnar, defenceman Carter Brown, and forwards Rory Keith and Brody McPherson, was sitting at 0-5 following a pair of losses yesterday.
The team, which also features players from Sioux Lookout, Kenora, and Dryden, were blanked for the third-straight time in a 8-0 loss to the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs yesterday morning.
Then they fell 5-1 to the Ottawa Valley Titans in the afternoon.
Bodnar got the start against the Titans, making 15 saves in a losing effort.
Following the completion of the round-robin today, which currently is led by the 5-0-1 Mississauga Rebels, the top four teams will advance to tomorrow’s semi-finals.
The gold-medal game is set for Saturday afternoon at the Fort William Gardens.
