Bantam boys win opener

The local Bantam boys’ curling rink got off to a good start yesterday at the provincial championship despite being without skip Isaac Keffer.
Keffer is in Italy with the Fort Frances High School band, but Ethan Jordbro stepped in and carried the load along with teammates Peter Jensen, Cody Heyens, and Travis Bois.
The foursome eked out a 5-4 win in an extra end over Josh Szajewski (Keewatin Curling Club) in their opening draw yesterday evening.
The rink faced a stiffer test against Scott Tremblay (Sudbury) early this afternoon, then will meet Mark Dugas (Sault Ste. Marie) tonight.
They’re back on the ice tomorrow morning against Jay Turner (Geraldton), then will wrap up the round-robin that afternoon versus Erik Luczak of the host Idylwylde Curling Club.
