Atikokan wins clinics with Hawerchuk

Atikokan competed with communities across the country and Canadians voted the city winner of the Kraft “Hockeyville” 2007 Fitness Merit Prize on-ice Post Cereals Hockey Clinics with NHL alumni Dale Hawerchuk.
Merit winners were chosen based on five criteria: Fairness, Fitness, Food, Fun, and Family.
The clinics will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 2-5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 23 from 8 a.m.-noon at Atikokan’s municipal arena.
More than 125 children will participate in clinics with Hawerchuk, who played in the NHL from 1981-97, recording more than a point-per-game for
13-consecutive seasons.
The clinics will be delivered by Canadian Pro Hockey Clinics.
The winning Atikokan committee and community also will host a dinner to honour Hawerchuk on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at Little Falls Community Centre.

Kraft Canada created “Hockeyville” to celebrate community spirit and the game of hockey at the grassroots level.
