Arpin wrecks at Daytona

It certainly wasn’t the way Fort Frances native Steve Arpin wanted to start off his 2011 racing season.
He was involved in a multi-car crash during the late stages of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 ARCA Series event Saturday at the Daytona International Speedway.
After starting in the third position, Arpin was running just outside of the top 10 with 16 laps to go when he got tangled up with Venezuelan IndyCar driver Milka Duno as he tried to avoid the slowing car of teammate Hal Martin in Turn 3.
That, in turn, caused a nine-car chain reaction pileup, which also spelled the end of Arpin’s day.
Bobby Gerhart went on take the checkered flag, marking the seventh time the native of Lebanon, Penn. has capture the season-opening event for the ARCA Series.
