Fort Frances native Steve Arpin will kick off his 2011 racing season with a bang this Saturday afternoon by running in the ARCA Series season-opener at the famed Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
A winner of three ARCA races last season, Arpin will be driving the #25 Venturini Motorsports Toyota in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200, with sponsorship from Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
Arpin officially announced his ride for the event on his Twitter page last Thursday after he took part in the pre-season test session at Daytona last month.
Having made two previous ARCA starts at the “World Center of Racing,” Arpin came home with a career-best 10th place result in last year’s season-opener—a position he matched in the Subway Jalapeno 250 Nationwide Series event held there last July.
This year’s event will feature a fairly diverse field, with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and IndyCar driver Milka Duno also on the official entry list.
