Fort Frances native Steve Arpin did not fare as well in his second Nationwide Series start of the season Sunday at the Iowa Speedway.
After coming 10th at the Texas Motor Speedway last month, Arpin—again behind the wheel of the #30 Mike’s On The Rocks Chevrolet Impala for Turner Motorsports—finished the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 in 16th spot one lap behind eventual race winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Having posted the 11th-fastest time in qualifying, Arpin stayed around that spot for most of the race while fighting an ill-handling race car.
He finally was lapped by Stenhouse Jr. on Lap 173.
After a late caution, Arpin’s crew made some adjustments on the final pit stop to try and get rid of the tight conditions on the machine.
But the car wound up sliding further down the running order over the final laps.
Sunday’s race was the last of a two-race stint, for the time behind, for Arpin with Turner Motorsports.
He now will prepare to run in an ARCA Series event at the Elko Speedway in Minnesota on June 2 for Venturini Motorsports.
