A medal just wasn’t to be this time around for Jackson Arpin at the OFSAA badminton championships held Thursday through Saturday in North Bay.
The Rainy River Owl standout compiled a 3-3 record at the all-Ontarios and fell short of making the podium.
Arpin had claimed a silver medal in the boys’ ‘C’ Flight last year at OFSAA in Windsor.
After winning his opening match against Matteo Palumbo (SWOSSAA) in the ‘A’ Flight, Arpin suffered his first defeat to Jeff Zhang (WOSSAA).
That loss dropped him down to the ‘B’ Flight, where he rebounded with a win over Druv Thakkar (LOSSA).
But Arpin then fell to Marco Brazeau (NOSSA), which relegated him to the ‘B’ Flight consolation bracket.
He started off well in dispatching Palumbo again in a rematch of their ‘A’ Flight battle, but he couldn’t keep that momentum going as he ended his OFSAA experience with a loss at the hands of Ryan Molin (ROPSAA).
Arpin had qualified for his third career trip to the all-Ontarios with a dominant 5-0 showing en route to snaring gold at the NWOSSAA championships back on April 24 in Thunder Bay.
