Aquanauts need to sell more tickets

The draw for the Fort Frances Aquanauts Swim Team’s four-day fly-in fishing trip prize is coming up Monday, Sept. 4 and organizers are hoping to sell plenty more tickets prior to that date.
FFAST president John Dutton said this morning only about one-third of the 3,000 tickets for the raffle have been sold—and more must be sold to make it a successful fundraiser.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser,” he noted. “It’s mostly to offset pool costs for our swimmers’ families.
“It’s not a life-or-death kind of situation, but it’s important to us,” he added.
Tickets, which cost $10 each, are available at Fort Frances General Supply, the Fort Frances Times, Lakewood Tire, Rainy Lake Sports and Tackle, and Dev-Lynne’s in Devlin.
The grand prize is a four-day fly-in fishing trip for four guests (valued at $6,500), courtesy of Rusty Myers. Dutton noted the trip is flexible in that the winner will get to choose when and where to go.
The draw will be held Sept. 4 at noon at the Memorial Sports Centre.
Three early-bird draws for $500 already have been held, with a fourth and final one coming up Friday, Sept. 1 at noon at the Memorial Sports Centre.
This means that those who buy their tickets prior to then will get one last shot at winning $500.
Past early-bird winners include Anita Fowler (June 15), Shelly Jordbro (July 15), and Arlene Georgeson (Aug. 15).
