Aquanauts host development meet

The Aquanaut swim team hosted a development meet for its younger swimmers Saturday, giving them a chance to compete against another swim club from Kenora.
“It gives [the swimmers] a chance to compete at their [own] level,” said Aquanaut head coach Debbie Murray. “The whole purpose is to give the kids the opportunity to compete, and it gives them a chance to succeed.”
Thirteen Aquanauts competed, ranging in age from seven to 11, with Amanda Allan, 11, leading the way. She picked up three first-place finishes in the 50m free, 50m fly, and 100m IM events.
Other local first-place finishers included Boyd Badiuk (25m fly and 50m free); Jamie Beadow (100m free); Alice Bolen (25m free and 25m back); Jennifer Green (25m fly); Megan Herbert (50m breast); Alyssa Holliday (25m breast); Lindsay Smith (50m breast and 100m IM); Alex Parent (25m back and 100m free); and Miranda Richert (50m fly).
Jessica Cousineau and Jennifer Hawley, both with a second-place finish, and Michelle McFayden, with a fourth-place one, were the other Aquanauts who competed here Saturday.
