Andy dandy in Emo win

Staff

Karma Andy—that’s with a ‘K,’ as in what many of the Couchiching Lady Raiders experienced yesterday evening.
The Emo Renegades’ newest acquisition looked like her old self—mowing down the visiting Lady Raiders in an 8-4 win in Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League action.
While most of the league took the night off due to the soggy weather rendering many of the fields unplayable, Andy exhibited her all-star form of a year ago to halt a five-game losing streak for the Renegades (4-6).
She also handed third-place Couchiching (7-3) back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
In the night’s only other game, the Dawson Diggers (4-6) joined Emo, the Northwest Bay Beavers (4-4), and the Big Island Wildcats (4-5) in a four-way tie for sixth place after a 21-12 romp over the host Sabaskong Tebinaak (2-6).
The RRDWFL will be getting makeup games in over the next week or so, starting with tonight’s matchup between the host Red Gut Babes (5-3) and Sabaskong.
Meanwhile, there’s a full slate of seven games in the Rainy River District Fastball League tonight, including the Fort Frances Braves hosting the Rainy River Royals.
Other games will see the Couchiching Raiders host the Sabaskong Cubs, the Sight & Sound Wolves visit the Barwick Blue Knights, and Windey’s Warriors face the host Sabaskong Lakers.
Rounding out the schedule is the Northwest Bay Chietains at Dawson, the Stratton Eagles against the host Northwest Bay Juniors, and the Manitou Thunderbirds visiting the Big Grassy Lightning.
