Fort Frances Lakers’ goalie Tyler Ampe has a souvenir after only three weeks in the SIJHL.
Ampe was named the Pizza Hut SIJHL player-of-the-week after recording a 2-0 mark in three appearances this past week, posting a 0.87 GAA and .970 save percentage in those games.
The soon-to-be 19-year-old beat visiting Dryden 3-2 last Tuesday night before blanking Sioux Lookout 4-0 here Saturday.
He also stopped all five shots he faced in 17:48 in relief of Jameson Shortreed in a 5-4 loss in Sioux Lookout on Friday.
If Ampe gets the start in tonight’s game versus the expansion Duluth Clydesdales, he’ll be looking to build on a 103:36 shutout streak.
Tonight’s game is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena but fans are encouraged to arrive early as the Lakers (4-3) will honour late assistant coach Bob Mainville.
The ceremony is set to get underway around 7:15 p.m.
