Al’s Racquet Stringing found a pair of hats that fit just right.
Claire Crichton and Katie Beninger each netted hat tricks to lead Al’s to a 6-5 upset of the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs in Borderland Soccer League women’s division action last night.
Al’s (4-5-2) handed the Vous (9-1) its first loss of the season after losing the first four meetings with the division’s top team by a combined score of 38-2.
Phyllis Pierson earned the win in goal for Al’s, who now sit just one point back of second-place Taggs (5-4-1).
Taggs, after losing by forfeit to Al’s on Monday, got its own gift of two points last night with a forfeit win over last-place Boston Pizza (0-9-1).
It was the second-straight game Boston Pizza was unable to field enough players (they also forfeited to the Voyageurs on Monday).
Women’s action resumes this Monday at 7 p.m. with Al’s taking on Boston Pizza while Taggs meets the Vous.
In men’s action from Tuesday, the division’s top two teams—Manitou Forest Products and ITS—battled to a scoreless draw.
James Pavier made it four shutouts in his past five games, and a league-high seven overall, for first-place Manitou (9-1-3).
Kurt McGuire matched the goose egg for ITS (4-2-5).
The night’s other game saw the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs edge Pharmasave 3-2.
Connor Bujold bulged the twine twice for the third-place Vous (5-4-2), who now are just one point back of ITS for second.
Kevin Metke added the other marker while Justin Angus earned the win between the pipes.
Jeff Campbell and Jeremy Nussbaumer tallied for last-place Pharmasave (0-11-2), with Josh Bye taking the loss in goal.
Men’s action resumes tonight’s games with Manitou facing the Vous and ITS clashing with Pharmasave.
