Drew Allan, 13, won the consolation final in his division at the Manitoba Jr. Open at the Winnipeg Canoe Club last Sunday by sweeping Sydney Bertram 3-0.
Allan went 2-1 in the round-robin, losing 3-0 to Andrew Town (ranked number-two in Canada in his age group) and then getting swept 3-0 by Cam Mundell.
He earned a berth into the consolation final with a 3-0 sweep over Bertram.
Meanwhile, Steven Krag, 12, the other local player at the tournament, lost 3-1 to Jason Glass in the consolation final of his pool.
Krag went winless in three games in the round-robin, losing 3-0 to Andrew Bumford, 3-0 to Ian Crozier, and then 3-2 to Glass.
In other squash news, Mark Faragher, Dustin Faragher, Jason Kabel, Ben Andrusco, Al Christiansen, and Bob Tkachuk of here are off to Winnipeg this weekend to compete at the Manitoba Open.
