Adult soccer kicks off

Two games, two wins, too sweet.
Manitou Forest Products has charged out of the gates for the new Borderland Soccer League men’s division season, notching a pair of wins over the past two nights.
First it was a 2-1 victory over CJ Contracting (0-1) on Tuesday in the regular-season opener for both squads.
CJ was the author of its own demise–giving up an own goal that stood up as the game-winner.
Colton Spicer had the other goal for Manitou (2-0) while Brant Spuzak replied for CJ.
Last night, a pair of Muskie boys’ soccer coaches did most of the damage for Manitou in a 3-2 win over Pharmasave (0-2).
Chris Sinclair and James Pavier each tallied once, with league newcomer John Tomaou adding the decisive final marker.
Brett Allan and Jeff Campbell scored for Pharmasave.
Max Williams netted a pair of goals Monday night as Centra (1-0) blanked Pharmasave 3-0.
Jeff Hyatt got the other goal while Tyler Hamm and Britt Green shared the shutout in goal.
CJ battles Centra at 7 p.m. in tonight’s lone game.
In the two-team women’s division, the first of eight regular-season matchups went the way of La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs by a count of 3-2 over Al’s Racquet Stringing on Monday.
The Vous/Taggs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half on tallies by Jess Caul, Claire Hyatt, and Erin Tomalty.
Sara Kellar got one back for Al’s before halftime, with Maggie Jean closing out the scoring after the break.
Phyllis Pierson earned the win in goal while Macey McMillen played the first half in net for Al’s before being replaced by Caroline Spencer.
The two teams will continue their eight-game regular season against each other this Monday at 7 p.m.
