A Minnesota man has been fined $3,000 for using a void Ontario resident Outdoors Card.
John Cawker of Ely pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing a void Outdoors Card and associated moose hunting licences for three years.
Court heard that Cawker moved to Ely in 2007. He then updated the address attached to his Ontario resident Outdoors Card to his parents’ address in Bobcaygeon, Ont.
He continued to purchase resident moose hunting licences and use a resident Outdoors Card from 2008-10 using his parents’ address.
Justice of the Peace Edith Baas heard the case April 19 in Dryden.
For the purposes of obtaining an Ontario resident hunting and fishing licence, a resident is a person whose primary residence is Ontario, and who has resided the province for a period of six-consecutive months during the previous 12 months.
