Youth job centre closing for the season

Press Release

The Fort Frances Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY) will close for the season this Friday (Aug. 7).
“This summer was extremely successful,” said Youth Services Officer Dayna DeBenedet.
“We helped many young people with their job searches, résumé and cover letter writing, and information on employment standards, health and safety in the workplace and student loans,” she added.
The Fort Frances Centre helped local employers find enthusiastic students who were ready to work. The SCCY also hosted a number of events designed to connect employers and students, and to promote the benefits of hiring young people during the summer.
Some of our most successful events included the “Odd Job Squad BBQ,” the “Humble Beginnings Wall of Fame” and our “Hire a Youth, Help the Economy Grow” initiative.
The Fort Frances Centre would like to thank the many employers, youth and community organizations that have helped to make these events so successful.
To celebrate another great summer, and to thank all of those who have made tremendous contributions, the Fort Frances SCCY invites everyone to attend their “Bon Voyage Office Closing Event” on Friday from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided outside the Centre at 301 Scott Street.
The Fort Frances SCCY is looking forward to working with the community again next summer. For more information on Service Canada services for youth, call 1-800-O-Canada or visit servicecanada.gc.ca.
