The Fort Frances Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY) will close for the season on Friday, Aug. 6.
“The summer was very successful,” said Youth Services Officer Jamie Petrin.
“We helped a large number of young people with their job searches, résumé and cover letter writing, as well as with information on employment standards, health and safety, and the Canada Student loan program,” she added.
The local centre also helped local employers find enthusiastic youth who were ready to work.
As well, the SCCY hosted a number of events designed to connect employers and youth, and to promote the benefits of hiring young people during the summer.
Some of its most successful events included a health and safety information fair, the “Humble Beginnings” Wall of Fame, and the annual Hire a Youth and Odd Job Squad weeks.
The Fort Frances centre would like to thank the many employers, youths, and community organizations who helped to make these events such a success.
To celebrate another great summer, and to thank all of those who have supported the centre, the Fort Frances SCCY invites the public to attend its office-closing event this Friday (July 30) from 1:30-4 p.m.
Refreshments will be provided outside the SCCY at 301 Scott St. (the post office).
The Fort Frances SCCY is looking forward to working with the community again next summer.
